4/2/2024 0 Comments Movie magnolia soundtrack![]() Magnolia, on the other hand, is my favorite PTA movie and one of my favorite movies of all time. And, honestly, while I still love it, I honestly like The Master and Boogie Nights a little bit more. There Will Be Blood is an excellent movie, and there are moments in it that are genuinely emotional, but it lacks that personal feeling to me that keeps it from being quite on the same level as Magnolia. ![]() Like I said, Aimee Mann's soundtrack certainly has a lot to do with it, as it is very raw and emotional, but I feel he was clearly trying to say something personal as well. Maybe that's just me reading in to it too much, but that's the feeling I got the first time I saw it in the theater and it has stuck with me over the years. I know it's a broad story with many people, but it almost felt like those people were all, somehow, manifestations of him. ![]() It felt very introspective in a way only Punch Drunk Love seems to come close to. For Aimee Mann, the soundtrack to Paul Thomas Anderson's Magnolia was her first opportunity to release new material since 1995's I'm With Stupid.True, some of the songs are a few years old, but this is their first release, and each of her nine songs for the film seamlessly fit together, achieving a perfect blend of musical and lyrical tone. It may be the soundtrack, but I always got the feeling that Magnolia was something of a very personal story for PTA. ![]()
